Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
सकृज्जातिगुणोपेत: संगत्या गृहमागत: । अतिथि: पूजितो ब्रह्मंस्तेन मां नाजहात् स्मृति:
sakṛj jātiguṇopetaḥ saṅgatyā gṛham āgataḥ | atithiḥ pūjito brahman tena māṁ nājahāt smṛtiḥ ||
একবার দৈবক্রমে জাতিগত গুণে সমৃদ্ধ এক ব্রাহ্মণ অতিথি আমার গৃহে এসেছিলেন; আমি তাঁকে যথোচিত আতিথ্যে সম্মান করেছিলাম। হে ব্রাহ্মণ! সেই কারণেই আজও স্মৃতি আমাকে ত্যাগ করেনি।
