উত্তর ভাগ লিঙ্গপুরাণের দ্বিতীয় বিভাগ, যেখানে মোক্ষ, যোগসাধনা এবং মহাদেব শিবের ‘মহামহিমা’ গভীরভাবে বর্ণিত। এখানে জীবের বন্ধন, কর্ম ও বাসনার গ্রন্থি, এবং সেই বন্ধনমোচনের পথ শাস্ত্রসম্মতভাবে উপস্থাপিত হয়; শিবানুগ্রহকে মুক্তির প্রধান কারণ বলে প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। এই অংশে যোগের অঙ্গ—যম, নিয়ম, আসন, প্রাণায়াম, প্রত্যাহার, ধারণা, ধ্যান ও সমাধি—শিবস্মরণ ও ভক্তির সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে শেখানো হয়েছে। লিঙ্গোপাসনা, মন্ত্রজপ, ব্রত ও তপস্যাকে কেবল বাহ্য আচরণ নয়, অন্তঃকরণশুদ্ধি ও আত্মজ্ঞান লাভের উপায় হিসেবে দেখানো হয়। উত্তর ভাগে শিবকে পরব্রহ্মরূপে—নির্গুণ ও সগুণ উভয়ভাবেই—প্রতিপন্ন করা হয়েছে। সৃষ্টিস্থিতিলয়ের অধীশ্বর হিসেবে তাঁর সর্বব্যাপিতা, করুণা ও ভক্তবৎসলতা সাধকের হৃদয়ে শ্রদ্ধা, বৈরাগ্য ও বিবেক জাগায়। শেষ পর্যন্ত এই বিভাগ শিক্ষা দেয়—অহংকার, রাগ-দ্বেষ ও অজ্ঞানের ক্ষয় ঘটিয়ে, গুরুপ্রসাদে এবং শিবভক্তিসহ যোগসাধনায় স্থিত হয়ে, জীব শিবস্বরূপে লীন হয়ে পরম শান্তি ও মুক্তি লাভ করে।
