इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे वाक्पारुष्यादिप्रकरणं नाम सप्तपञ्चाशदधिकद्विशतत्मो ऽध्यायः अथाष्टपञ्चाशदधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः ऋग्विधानं अग्निर् उवाच ऋग्यजुःसामाथर्वविधानं पुष्करोदितम् भुक्तिमुक्तिकरं जप्याद्धोमाद्रामाय तद्वदे

এভাবে অগ্নি-মহাপুরাণে “বাক্পারুষ্যাদি” নামক প্রकरणটি ২৫৭তম অধ্যায়। এখন ২৫৮তম অধ্যায় “ঋগ্বিধান” আরম্ভ। অগ্নি বললেন—পুষ্করপ্রণীত ঋক্, যজুঃ, সাম ও অথর্ববিধান ভোগ ও মোক্ষ প্রদানকারী; রামের উদ্দেশ্যে জপ ও হোমের দ্বারা, এবং তদ্রূপভাবে অন্যান্য বিধান অনুসারেও, তা আচরণ করা উচিত।
