Caturthī-vratāni (Vows of the Fourth Lunar Day)
ভগবান অগ্নি চতুর্থী-ভিত্তিক ব্রতগুলির ধারাবাহিক বিবরণ দেন এবং স্পষ্ট করেন যে এগুলি ভুক্তি ও মুক্তি—উভয় ফলদায়ক সাধনা। শুরুতে পাঠ/পাণ্ডুলিপি-ভেদের সংক্ষিপ্ত উল্লেখ, তারপর মাস ও তিথি অনুযায়ী বিধান। মাঘ শুক্ল চতুর্থীতে উপবাস ও পূজা, যেখানে দেবতার ‘গুণ’কে পূজার কেন্দ্র করা হয়েছে। পঞ্চমী পর্যন্ত তিল-ভাত নিবেদন করে বছরভর নির্বিঘ্ন কল্যাণের কামনা; মূলমন্ত্র ‘গং স্বাহা’ এবং ‘গাম্’ প্রভৃতি দ্বারা হৃদয়-আদি অঙ্গন্যাস। ‘আগচ্ছ উল্কা’ দ্বারা আহ্বান ও ‘গচ্ছ উল্কা’ দ্বারা বিসর্জন, গুগ্গুলু-সুগন্ধ ও মোদক নিবেদন, সঙ্গে গণেশ-গায়ত্রী-ধাঁচের অতিরিক্ত মন্ত্র। শেষে ভাদ্রপদ চতুর্থীর কৃচ্ছ্র, ফাল্গুন চতুর্থীর রাত্রি-উপবাস ‘অবিঘ্না’, এবং চৈত্র চতুর্থীতে দমন/দূর্বা দিয়ে গণপূজা—এসব বিশেষ আচরণকে মঙ্গল ও শুদ্ধির প্রযুক্তি হিসেবে দেখানো হয়েছে।
