This verse preserves a lineage (vaṃśa) to anchor the Purāṇic narrative in time and dharma, showing how worldly succession continues under the higher sovereignty of Pati (Lord Shiva), who alone grants liberation beyond birth-based identity.
Though genealogical, it supports the Purāṇic method where kings and lineages provide the historical setting for later Shaiva acts—temple building, Linga worship, vows, and Shiva-bhakti—through which Saguna Shiva’s grace becomes visible in the world.
No specific rite is prescribed in this line; the practical takeaway is to maintain dharmic continuity and dedicate one’s lineage and duties to Shiva through daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and regular Linga worship.
