Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Orientation (dik) and disciplined posture symbolize aligning the limited self with īśvara-niyati; proper directionality is a ritual antidote to the soul’s disorientation under māyā.
It emphasizes disciplined preparation in Shaiva worship—outer order (placing the leaf, choosing direction, preparing the thread) supports inner steadiness, making the mind fit to approach Pati (Shiva) with reverence and focus.
The verse describes practical steps of ritual arrangement, implying Saguna worship where materials and directions are used to express devotion; such ordered puja becomes a support for realizing Shiva’s grace beyond form.
It suggests careful upacāra preparation—placing the ritual base (leaf/leaf-plate), maintaining a fixed posture and direction, and using a prepared thread for the rite—performed with mantra-japa and one-pointed attention.
