Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
saṅhṛtya ca bhujau śrīmāṁs tathaiva ca śirodharām | tejaḥ sattvaṁ tathā vīryam āviveśa sa vīryavān ||
The glorious and courageous Hanuman his head and shoulders contracted, summoned up all his energy and vigour.
Dharma here is disciplined self-mastery: before a righteous act, Hanumān gathers and governs his powers rather than acting impulsively.
At Mahendra mountain, Hanumān readies himself internally and physically for the ocean-crossing mission to find Sītā.
Vīrya with restraint—courage joined to composure and focused intention.
