Viradha’s Challenge and the Clash in Dandaka
तमुवाच ततो रामो राक्षसं ज्वलिताननम्।पृच्छन्तं सुमहातेजा इक्ष्वाकुकुलमात्मनः।।3.3.3।।
tam uvāca tato rāmo rākṣasaṃ jvalitānanam | pṛcchantaṃ sumahātejā ikṣvākukulam ātmanaḥ || 3.3.3 ||
তাৰ পাছত মহাতেজস্বী ৰামে জ্বলন্ত মুখবিশিষ্ট সেই ৰাক্ষসক ক’লে; সোধা হোৱাত তেওঁ নিজৰ ইক্ষ্বাকুকুলৰ বংশ-পৰিচয় প্ৰকাশ কৰিলে।
Rama understood the intention of the demon and said to Lakshmana, Let him go his way, no need to stop him.
Rāma responds without deceit and states his identity plainly, reflecting satya (truthfulness) and the kṣatriya ideal of accountable self-presentation even before an enemy.
Virādha questions the two princes in the forest; Rāma begins by introducing himself through his royal lineage.
Satya and steadiness: Rāma remains composed and transparent despite the threatening presence of the rākṣasa.
