Vipra (a brāhmaṇa)

Concept: The highest boon is unwavering mind fixed in the Lord; without Him, all worldly delights lose taste.

Application: When making choices, ask: ‘Does this increase remembrance of the Lord?’ Practice daily nāma-japa and reduce distractions that compete for the mind’s ‘roci’ (taste).

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: shringara

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A brāhmaṇa devotee, eyes moist yet calm, offers his ‘boon’ as a garland of intention—placing his own mind at the Lord’s feet. Behind him, faint silhouettes of worldly pleasures—palaces, ornaments, feasts—fade into translucence, as if losing color. The Lord stands as the only vivid reality, drawing the devotee’s inner gaze like a magnet of peace.","primary_figures":["Vipra (brāhmaṇa devotee)","Viṣṇu (Sarva-lokeśa)"],"setting":"A sanctum courtyard with a visible threshold: on one side, dim worldly imagery; on the other, the bright altar of Viṣṇu.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["ivory","saffron","sapphire blue","soft rose","smoky gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Viṣṇu richly adorned with gold leaf halo; the vipra in simple white with sacred thread, offering a flower and placing his forehead near the Lord’s feet; background shows faded worldly motifs in muted tones; ornate temple arch, deep red and green textiles, gem-studded crown and jewelry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate devotional scene under a flowering tree near a small shrine; the vipra’s expression is tender and resolute; distant palace forms dissolve into mist; cool yet luminous palette, delicate detailing of garments and foliage, refined facial features.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: Viṣṇu frontal with bold outlines; vipra kneeling, hands in añjali; symbolic ‘fading world’ rendered as pale silhouettes; strong reds/yellows/greens with deep blue deity, temple-wall aesthetic.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central Viṣṇu on lotus pedestal; border filled with repeating lotus and tulasi-like creepers (as a symbolic hint of later Padma themes); the vipra at the bottom center offering his heart/mind as a floral emblem; deep blue and gold with intricate white linework."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"emotional","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","soft mridangam (very light)","temple bells (occasional)","quiet breathing pauses"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: त्वदृते = त्वत् + ऋते; कदाचिन्न = कदाचित् + न.

FAQs

It asks for constant fixation of the mind on the Lord (manas in You), presenting devotion as continuous remembrance and exclusive reliance on the divine.

The verse teaches single-pointed commitment: cultivating a mind that seeks fulfillment only in the Lord, which implies detachment from pleasures that distract from spiritual aim.

No. This verse is a devotional prayer about inner orientation (mind, delight, dependence), not about places, pilgrimages, or sacred sites.
