FAQs

It recommends three core disciplines: complete restraint from violence (ahiṃsā), association with the virtuous (sādhu-saṅga), and active commitment to the welfare of all beings.

A good person is portrayed as one who avoids harming others, seeks the influence of saintly company, and consistently acts for the common good rather than narrow self-interest.

The verse teaches that non-violence and compassion are not merely personal virtues but a social ethic—working for everyone's welfare is presented as a direct cause of higher spiritual reward (Svarga).
