Womb-Suffering and the Path to Liberation
Dialogue of Wisdom, Meditation, and Discernment
viveka uvāca | jñānaṃ gacchamahāprājña sa te sarvaṃ vadiṣyati | ātmā tathoktaḥ saṃprāpto yatra jñānaṃ pratiṣṭhitam
Viveka
Concept: Viveka directs the seeker to Jñāna; discernment is the gateway, knowledge is the stable ground where the self becomes rightly situated.
Application: Before seeking advanced practices, establish viveka: daily self-inquiry (‘what leads to lasting good?’), study of śāstra, and association with sādhus; then pursue knowledge that culminates in devotion rather than argument.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The addressee is a “greatly wise” seeker within the dialogue; Viveka directs this person to approach Jñāna (Knowledge personified) for complete instruction.
Discrimination (Viveka) points the seeker toward Knowledge (Jñāna) as the authoritative guide, and it frames realization as arriving at the locus where knowledge is firmly established.
It suggests the Self (Ātman), once properly instructed, “reaches” the state or domain where true knowledge is established—implying liberation through right instruction and stable knowledge.
