Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Sandhi Resolution Notes: सूतौवाच = सूतः + उवाच; पुण्यसंसर्गात्संवादाच्च = पुण्यसंसर्गात् + संवादात् + च; बहिस्तस्य = बहिः + तस्य; विनिर्गतः is a kta-participle used predicatively.
The verse emphasizes satsaṅga—holy association with sages—and meaningful dialogue with them as a direct cause of inner purification.
It presents sin (pāpa) as an impurity that can be extracted through transformative contact with wisdom and virtue, suggesting an inner reorientation rather than mere external ritual.
Keeping the company of the wise and engaging in dharmic conversation refines character; harmful tendencies diminish when one repeatedly turns toward sacred counsel.
