Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 72 — Bhīmasena’s counsel on conciliation and Duryodhana’s disposition

एतदेव निमित्तं ते पाण्डवास्तु यथा त्वयि । नान्वतप्यन्त कौपीनं तावत्‌ कृत्वापि दुष्करम्‌

etad eva nimittaṁ te pāṇḍavās tu yathā tvayi | nānvatapyanta kaupīnaṁ tāvat kṛtvāpi duṣkaram, pāṇḍunandana |

যুধিষ্ঠিৰে ক’লে—হে পাণ্ডুনন্দন, এইটোৱেই নিৰ্ণায়ক প্ৰমাণ: কৌৰৱসকলে তোমাৰ আৰু পাণ্ডৱসকলৰ সৈতে যি দৰে আচৰণ কৰিলে, তাৰ বাবে তেওঁলোকে কেতিয়াও অনুতপ্ত নহ’ল। তেওঁলোকে তোমাক কৌপীন ধাৰণ কৰাই, দীৰ্ঘকাল বনবাসৰ দুষ্কৰ দুঃখ ভোগ কৰালে; তথাপি তেওঁলোকৰ হৃদয়ত খেদ জাগিল নহ’ল। এই অনুতাপৰ অভাৱেই কৌৰৱসকলৰ সৈতে সত্য সন্ধি স্থায়ী নহ’বৰ মূল কাৰণ।
