भीष्मस्य सेनापत्यप्रतिज्ञा तथा रथसंख्यावर्णनम् | Bhishma Accepts Command and Enumerates Kaurava Strength
स्वेन वृत्तेन मे वृत्तं नाधिगन्तुं त्वमहसि । उभयोरन्तरं वेद सूनूतानृतयोरपि,“सुयोधन! तुझे अपने आचरणके अनुसार ही मेरे आचरणको नहीं समझना चाहिये। मैं दोनोंके बर्तावका तथा सत्य और झूठका भी अन्तर समझता हूँ
svēna vṛttēna mē vṛttaṁ nādhigantuṁ tvam arhasi | ubhayor antaraṁ vēda sūnṛtānṛtayor api ||
“সুয়োধন! তোমাৰ নিজৰ আচৰণেৰে মোৰ আচৰণ বিচাৰ নকৰিবা। মই দুয়ো পক্ষৰ ব্যৱহাৰৰ তফাৎ জানো, আৰু সত্য-অসত্যৰ ভেদো বুজো।”
संजय उवाच
One should not project one’s own moral standard onto others; a wise person discerns the true difference between right and wrong conduct, and between truthful and false speech.
Sanjaya addresses Suyodhana (Duryodhana), asserting his independent moral judgment: he understands the contrasting conduct of the two sides and can distinguish truth from falsehood, implying he will not be swayed by Suyodhana’s self-justifying perspective.
