Adhyāya 302: Guṇa-vicāra, Gati-bheda, and the Imperishable State
Yājñavalkya–Janaka
स एव ह्ृदि सर्वासु मूर्तिष्वातिष्ठते55त्मवान् । केवलश्वैतनो नित्य: सर्वमूर्तिरमूर्तिमान्
sa eva hṛdi sarvāsu mūrtiṣv ātiṣṭhate ’tmavān | kevalaś caitano nityaḥ sarvamūrtir amūrtimān ||
বসিষ্ঠ ক’লে—সেই পৰমাত্মাই সকলো দেহধাৰী ৰূপৰ হৃদয়দেশত আত্মৰূপে অধিষ্ঠিত। তেওঁ একমাত্ৰ, শুদ্ধ চৈতন্য, নিত্য; সকলো ৰূপত প্ৰকাশিত হৈও স্বয়ং নিৰাকাৰ—সকলৰ অন্তৰাত্মা।
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse teaches the immanence and transcendence of the Supreme Self: the one eternal consciousness dwells in the heart of every embodied being, appearing as all forms while remaining formless and non-dual.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and liberation, Vasiṣṭha delivers a metaphysical teaching: he identifies the Paramātman as the inner resident of all bodies, guiding the listener from external identity to inner realization.
