Droṇa–Sātyaki Engagement
ततो जयो महाराज कृतवर्मा च सात्वतः । काम्बोजश्च श्रुतायुश्न धनंजयमवारयन्,महाराज! तब जय, सात्वतवंशी कृतवर्मा, काम्बोज-नरेश तथा श्रुतायुने सामने आकर अर्जुनको रोका
tato jayo mahārāja kṛtavarmā ca sātvatāḥ | kāmbojaś ca śrutāyuś ca dhanañjayam avārayan ||
হে মহাৰাজ! তেতিয়া জয়, সাত্বতবংশীয় কৃতবর্মা, কাম্বোজ-নৃপ আৰু শ্রুতায়ু—সকলে সন্মুখলৈ আহি ধনঞ্জয় (অৰ্জুন)ক ৰোধ কৰিলে।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights a battlefield ethic and reality: even a supremely capable warrior can be checked when opponents act in concert. It underscores kṣatriya resolve and strategic duty—resisting a powerful adversary is part of one’s pledged role in war, regardless of the opponent’s fame.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that several Kaurava-side fighters—Jaya, Kṛtavarmā, the Kāmboja leader, and Śrutāyus—advance together and block Arjuna’s progress, attempting to halt his charge in the ongoing battle.
