The verse highlights how, in war, moral evaluation is contested and volatile: crowds may condemn actions they perceive as improper while praising exemplary courage and warriorly conduct. It implicitly points to the importance of dharma (right conduct) even amid victory-seeking violence.
Sañjaya reports that the assembled soldiers began to blame Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, while praising a foremost hero (contextually understood as the celebrated warrior on the opposing side). The battlefield audience reacts to recent events by assigning blame and honor.
