Droṇa-parva 112: Karṇa–Bhīma Engagement and Duryodhana’s Protective Order
पाण्डूनां सर्वसैन्येषु पड्चालानां तथैव च । द्रोणं सम ददृशु: शूरं विनिध्नन्तं वरान् वरान्
pāṇḍūnāṃ sarvasainyeṣu pāñcālānāṃ tathaiva ca | droṇaṃ sama dadṛśuḥ śūraṃ vinighnantaṃ varān varān ||
পাণ্ডৱ আৰু পাঁচালসকলৰ সমগ্ৰ সেনাবাহিনীত লোকসকলে দেখিলে—শূৰ দ্ৰোণাচাৰ্যই শ্ৰেষ্ঠ শ্ৰেষ্ঠ যোদ্ধাসকলক বাছি বাছি নিধন কৰি আছে।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the harsh logic of dharma in war: a commander like Droṇa, acting within his pledged allegiance and martial role, seeks out the enemy’s foremost defenders to decide the battle—yet this very efficiency intensifies the moral weight and sorrow of the conflict.
Sañjaya reports that across the Pāṇḍava and Pāñcāla forces, observers witness Droṇa repeatedly cutting down the leading warriors, selecting and eliminating the most prominent champions one after another.
