Educational Q&A

Right action in a crisis must be grounded in right understanding: Arjuna seeks precise definitions of key metaphysical terms so that duty and spiritual practice are aligned with the true nature of the Self, the world, and the Divine who presides over sacrifice and inner life.

On the battlefield, after Krishna’s teaching, Arjuna turns from confusion to inquiry. He asks Krishna to explain technical terms—Brahman, adhyatma, karma, adhibhuta, adhidaiva, and adhiyajna—and specifically how the Lord as adhiyajna is present within the body.
