Taking away the livelihood-land of distressed, helpless Brahmins is a severe adharma; their tears become a moral force that brings ruin upon the wrongdoer’s lineage for three generations, emphasizing accountability beyond the individual.
In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma, he states a consequence-based warning: when Brahmins are made destitute by the loss of their field and weep in misery, that injustice results in the destruction of the dispossessor’s family line across three generations.
