Educational Q&A

Actions motivated by attachment can still carry binding consequences; an intentional ‘exchange’ (vyatyāsa) alters outcomes, and Bhīṣma frames the result as a moral-causal inevitability.

Bhīṣma explains that because the addressed woman and her mother have performed an exchange, the mother will consequently give birth to an excellent Brāhmaṇa—stating the outcome as the direct result of their act.
