The verse underscores the importance of orderly transmission of knowledge: once a lineage (vaṁśa) has been narrated fully, the student-king is invited to proceed with further, more purposeful questions—showing disciplined inquiry and structured instruction.
Bhīṣma concludes a detailed account of the king’s lineage and, addressing Yudhiṣṭhira with the epithet “descendant of Gārtsamada,” asks what additional matter Yudhiṣṭhira wishes to inquire about next.
