Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent
आहूतो विद्यया भद्ठे भार्गवेण महात्मना । त्वत्सममीपमिहायात: कथंचित् समजीवित:,“भद्रे! फिर महात्मा भार्गवने जब विद्याका प्रयोग करके मुझे बुलाया है, तब किसी प्रकारसे पूर्ण जीवन लाभ करके यहाँ तुम्हारे पास आ सका हूँ
āhūto vidyayā bhadre bhārgaveṇa mahātmanā | tvatsamam īpam ihāyātaḥ kathaṃcit samajīvitaḥ ||
শুক্ৰ ক’লে— “ভদ্ৰে! মহাত্মা ভাৰ্গৱে নিজৰ বিদ্যাৰ শক্তিৰে মোক আহ্বান কৰিলে; আৰু মই কেনেবাকৈ পূৰ্ণ জীৱন ঘূৰাই পাই ইয়াত তোমাৰ ওচৰলৈ আহি পালোঁ।”
शुक्र उवाच
The verse highlights the potency and responsibility of vidyā (sacred knowledge): it can summon, restore, and redirect life itself, implying that such power should be guided by dharma and used for rightful purposes.
Śukra reports that a great Bhārgava sage has called him through vidyā, and that after somehow regaining full life, he has arrived here to be near the woman he addresses as ‘bhadre’.
