Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)

दृष्टवा फलस्य नापश्यद्‌ दोषान्‌ पापानुबन्धकान्‌ | विविनक्ति न शौचं य: सोअन्यत्रापि कथं भवेत्‌,“जिन्होंने देखकर भी फलके पापजनक दोषोंकी ओर दृष्टिपात नहीं किया, जो किसी वस्तुको लेनेमें शुद्धि-अशुद्धिका विचार नहीं करते, वे दूसरे कार्योंमें भी कैसा बर्ताव करेंगे, कहा नहीं जा सकता

dṛṣṭvā phalasya nāpaśyad doṣān pāpānubandhakān | vivinakti na śaucaṃ yaḥ so 'nyatrāpi kathaṃ bhavet ||

লাভৰ মোহ দেখি তেওঁ সেই ফলৰ লগত জড়িত পাপ-অনুবন্ধী দোষবোৰ লক্ষ্য নকৰিলে। যি গ্ৰহণৰ সময়ত শুদ্ধি-অশুদ্ধিৰ বিবেচনা নকৰে, সি অন্য কামত কেনেকৈ সঠিক আচৰণ কৰিব? নিশ্চিতকৈ ক’ব নোৱাৰি।
