Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)
सत्यमेतन्महाबाहो यथा वदसि भारत । विश्वासात् ते प्रवक्ष्यामि संतानाय कुलस्य न:,उसने कहा--“महाबाहु भीष्म! तुम जैसा कहते हो वही ठीक है। तुमपर विश्वास होनेसे अपने कुलकी संततिकी रक्षाके लिये तुम्हें मैं एक बात बतलाती हूँ
satyam etan mahābāho yathā vadasi bhārata | viśvāsāt te pravakṣyāmi santānāya kulasya naḥ ||
সেই ক’লে—“মহাবাহু ভীষ্ম! হে ভাৰত, তুমি যেনেকৈ কৈছা, তেনেকৈয়ে সত্য। তোমাৰ ওপৰত বিশ্বাস ৰাখি, আমাৰ কুলৰ সন্তান-পরম্পৰা ৰক্ষাৰ বাবে মই তোমাক এটা কথা ক’ম।”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Truthfulness joined with responsible disclosure: the speaker affirms the other’s words as true and, grounded in trust, shares confidential knowledge for the higher good—protecting the family’s continuity (kula-santāna).
In the flow of Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a speaker addresses a revered Kuru figure (styled “Mahābāhu” and “Bhārata”), agrees with his assessment, and promises to reveal an important matter specifically aimed at safeguarding the continuation of the dynasty.
