FAQs

It presents the Supreme Lord as the unique, unsurpassed knower—implying that ultimate knowledge (including Self-knowledge) is grounded in the Supreme reality, and certainty arises when the Lord (as inner ruler and teacher) removes doubt.

The verse emphasizes śuśrūṣā—disciplined listening, service, and receptivity to instruction—an essential preparatory limb for Yoga-shastra and Pashupata-oriented practice, where clarity arises through right hearing and guidance from the Lord/teacher.

By addressing Lord Kurma (Vishnu) as Parameśvara, it reflects the Kurma Purana’s synthetic theology where the Supreme Lord can be praised with Shaiva titles, supporting a non-sectarian, unified view of Ishvara.
