Haristuti-saṅgraha: Devatā–Ṛṣi Praṇāma, Nāma-māhātmya, and Vairāgya from Deha-āsakti
स्वायंभुव उवाच / स्तोतुं ह्यनुप्रविशतोपि न गर्भदुः खं तस्मादहं परमपूज्यपदं गतस्ते
svāyaṃbhuva uvāca / stotuṃ hyanupraviśatopi na garbhaduḥ khaṃ tasmādahaṃ paramapūjyapadaṃ gataste
Svayambhuva (a self-born/primordial figure; often associated with Brahma/Manu in Purāṇic usage)
Concept: All exalted status—even Brahmā’s—is derivative and oriented toward the Supreme; exceptional birth is not ultimate, but a reason for reverence.
Vedantic Theme: Hierarchy within saṃsāra: even the highest created being remains dependent; īśvara-supremacy over cosmic functions.
Application: Cultivate humility: achievements, birth, and privilege are not grounds for ego but for gratitude and reverence toward the source.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: cosmic origin locus
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: repeated motif that even Brahmā, Rudra, Indra are within saṃsāra and subordinate to Nārāyaṇa; Garuda Purana: stutis where devas confess dependence and limitedness
This verse highlights garbha-duḥkha as a karmic condition tied to embodiment; freedom from it is presented as a sign of exceptional spiritual merit and elevated status.
By referencing “anupraveśa” (entering), it frames birth as a conscious transition into embodied life, where suffering may or may not arise depending on prior spiritual standing and karma.
Cultivate ethical living and devotional practice so that future embodiment is shaped by merit—reducing suffering and increasing clarity, reverence, and spiritual progress.
