Akrūra’s Mission: The Departure from Vraja and the Yamunā Vision of Viṣṇu-Ananta
निवारयाम: समुपेत्य माधवं किं नोऽकरिष्यन् कुलवृद्धबान्धवा: । मुकुन्दसङ्गान्निमिषार्धदुस्त्यजाद् दैवेन विध्वंसितदीनचेतसाम् ॥ २८ ॥
nivārayāmaḥ samupetya mādhavaṁ kiṁ no ’kariṣyan kula-vṛddha-bāndhavāḥ mukunda-saṅgān nimiṣārdha-dustyajād daivena vidhvaṁsita-dīna-cetasām
আহা, আমি সিধাই মাধৱৰ ওচৰলৈ গৈ তেঁওক থামাওঁ। কুলৰ বৃদ্ধ আৰু আত্মীয়ই আমাক কি কৰিব? মুকুন্দৰ সঙ্গ আমি নিমিষাৰ্ধও ত্যাগ কৰিব নোৱাৰোঁ; দেৱভাগ্যই বিচ্ছেদ ঘটাইছে বুলিয়েই আমাৰ মন ইতিমধ্যে দীন হৈ ভাঙি পৰিছে।
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī describes what the gopīs thought: “Let us go right up to Kṛṣṇa and pull at His clothes and hands and insist that He get down from His chariot and stay here with us. We will tell Him, ‘Don’t bring upon Yourself the sinful reaction for murdering so many women!’”
This verse shows the gopis’ absorption in Krishna: Mukunda’s association is so essential to their life and consciousness that abandoning it even for half a moment feels impossible.
Overpowered by love and separation, they feel social obstacles are insignificant compared to their need to be with Krishna; their hearts, “crushed by fate,” can no longer tolerate distance from Him.
Cultivate steady remembrance of Krishna through daily sādhana (hearing, chanting, prayer) so that spiritual connection becomes your main support even amid external pressures.
