Sage Parāśara (in instruction to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Contemplation of the Lord as manifest Brahman with auspicious form
Teaching: Philosophical
Quality: authoritative
Concept: The Supreme Brahman is to be contemplated as personally manifest—stable-limbed, lotus-footed, and clothed in pure yellow—uniting metaphysical ultimacy with accessible form.
Vedantic Theme: Brahman
Application: In meditation, combine philosophical conviction (‘He is Brahman’) with concrete visualization (feet, posture, garment) to prevent abstraction from becoming mental vagueness.
Vishishtadvaita: Brahman is not attribute-less emptiness here; He is Brahman with form and qualities, the material and efficient cause of the world.
Vishnu Form: Para-Brahman
Bhakti Type: Shanta
Jagat Karana: Yes
This verse presents the lotus-feet and steady posture as a concrete support for dhyāna, guiding the mind from sacred form to the realization of Vishnu as Brahman.
Parāśara instructs a step-by-step visualization: begin with stable, well-set limbs and the lotus-feet, then recognize the deity contemplated as brahma-bhūta—Brahman in manifest form.
Vishnu is affirmed as the Supreme Reality (Brahman) while remaining personally approachable through form—supporting Vaishnava theology central to Vishishtadvaita and Dvaita devotional contemplation.
