Paingala Upanishad 5 — Verse 5

ātmendriya-mano-yuktaṁ bhoktety āhur maharṣayaḥ | tato nārāyaṇaḥ sākṣād hṛdaye supratiṣṭhitaḥ ||5||

The great seers say that the Self, conjoined with sense-organs and mind, is the experiencer (enjoyer). Then Nārāyaṇa Himself is directly well-established in the heart.

Jīva (ātman associated with upādhis) vs. inner Lord (Īśvara/Nārāyaṇa) in the heart; adhyāsa and the seat of realizationMahavakya: Supports ‘ayam ātmā brahma’/‘tat tvam asi’ indirectly: the ‘enjoyer’ is the Self under limiting adjuncts; the heart-indwelling Reality points to the non-dual Self when adjuncts are negated.AtharvaChandas: Anuṣṭubh (śloka)
