Paingala Upanishad 10 — Verse 10

न । च । न । च ।

dagdhasya dahanaṃ nāsti pakvasya pacanaṃ yathā | jñānāgni-dagdha-dehasya na ca śrāddhaṃ na ca kriyā ||10||

Just as there is no burning for what has been burnt, and no cooking for what has been cooked, so for one whose body (sense of embodied agency) has been burnt by the fire of knowledge, there is neither śrāddha (funerary rite) nor (ritual) action.

Moksha (jñāna-nisṭhā; transcendence of karma and ritual obligation)Mahavakya: Supports the import of mahāvākyas such as “अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (ahaṃ brahmāsmi)” by asserting that realization nullifies doership and ritual compulsion.AtharvaChandas: Anuṣṭubh (śloka)
