tiṃginyā yatsvarūpaṃ ca tanmayā parikīrtitam | prāyaścittamidaṃ samyaṅmahāpātakanāśanam
Brāhmaṇa (ritual instructor)
Tirtha: Tiṃginī
Type: kshetra
Scene: A teacher-sage figure formally declares the ‘svarūpa’ of Tiṃginī; listeners sit attentive; the declaration is framed like a dharma-śāstra pronouncement with sacred gravity.
Puranic dharma upholds that sincere, properly performed expiation can cleanse even grave wrongdoing.
Tiṃginī is highlighted as the focus of a powerful expiatory practice within this tīrtha-māhātmya.
The verse summarizes that the previously described prāyaścitta must be done ‘samyak’ (according to rule) to yield its sin-destroying fruit.
