kulānāṃ tārayetpārtha śatamekottaraṃ naraḥ | śraddhāyuktaṃ mudā yuktaṃ sotsāhaṃ saspṛhaṃ tathā
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) to the sages (deduced; vocative ‘Pārtha’ retained from earlier dialogue tradition)
Listener: Pārtha (Arjuna)
Scene: A devotee performs worship with intense faith; behind him, a subtle ancestral procession is shown being led upward—symbolic lineages redeemed by one person’s vow.
A single devotee’s faithful observance can uplift not only oneself but also one’s wider lineage, when performed with sincere inner qualities.
No site is named; the verse stresses the trans-generational merit (kula-tāraṇa) of the vrata.
Perform the observance with śraddhā (faith), mudā (joy), utsāha (enthusiasm), and spṛhā (earnest aspiration).
