Brahmā–Viṣṇu-Pūjā: Upacāra-Vistāra and Īśvara’s Prasāda
Offerings in Shiva Worship and the Lord’s Grace
तस्मादज्ञातमीशत्वं व्यक्तं द्योतयितुं हि वाम् । सकलोहमतो जातः साक्षादीशस्तु तत्क्षणात्
tasmādajñātamīśatvaṃ vyaktaṃ dyotayituṃ hi vām | sakalohamato jātaḥ sākṣādīśastu tatkṣaṇāt
Lord Shiva (Īśvara) speaking to Brahmā and Viṣṇu
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Theophany: transition from niṣkala (unmanifest) to sakala (manifest) for disclosure to Brahmā and Viṣṇu
It teaches that Śiva, though ultimately beyond comprehension, compassionately becomes directly manifest so limited beings can recognize His Īśvara-nature and receive right knowledge leading toward liberation.
It supports Saguna-upāsanā: the Lord takes a perceivable form to reveal the truth of His sovereignty. Linga worship similarly honors the transcendent Śiva through a manifest symbol that makes His presence accessible.
Contemplate Śiva as sākṣāt (directly present) while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with focused awareness, using Linga-dhyāna as the support for realizing the Lord’s manifest grace.
