Suta Goswami (narrating the teaching of Shiva-worship to the sages of Naimisharanya within the Vidyeshvara context)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Emphasizes bhakti as the decisive condition for Śiva’s phala; pilgrimage and ritual are fruitful when they mature into devotion that removes bhrama (delusion).
Mantra: anena manunā vāpi pūjayecchaṃkaraṃ sudhīḥ | subhaktyā ca bhramaṃ tyaktvā bhaktyaiva phaladaḥ śivaḥ
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches that mantra is a support for worship, but the decisive power is pure bhakti that removes भ्रम (delusion) and makes Śiva’s grace-fruit manifest.
Worship “by this mantra” implies ritual and contemplative upāsanā directed to Śaṅkara in a worshipable form (Saguna, including the Liṅga), while affirming that the inner efficacy comes from devotion rather than mere external correctness.
Perform Śiva-pūjā with mantra-japa (classically the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and cultivate single-pointed bhakti—using the rite to drop भ्रम and rely on Śiva’s grace for फल (spiritual and worldly results).
