Praṇava-Māhātmya and the Twofold Mantra (Sūkṣma–Sthūla) in Śaiva Sādhanā
कुरुते यो नरो भक्त्या स शिवः शिवमेधते । य इमं पठतेऽध्यायमर्थवद्वेदसंमतम्
kurute yo naro bhaktyā sa śivaḥ śivamedhate | ya imaṃ paṭhate'dhyāyamarthavadvedasaṃmatam

Sthala Purana: As this is in the Viśveśvara-saṃhitā, the teaching is framed around Kāśī Viśveśvara: recitation and devotion aligned with Vedic intent are praised as a direct means to Śiva’s favor and auspicious attainment.
Significance: Śiva-sāyujya/Śiva-sāmīpya-oriented merit: becoming ‘Śiva-like’ through bhakti and śravaṇa-pāṭha; purification and uplift through Veda-concordant Purāṇic recitation.
Type: stotra
It teaches that sincere bhakti and faithful engagement with Śiva’s teachings transform the devotee into a Śiva-aligned being, yielding auspiciousness and spiritual fulfillment consistent with Vedic dharma.
In the Vidyeśvara context, devotion expressed through worship and reverent study supports Saguna Śiva-upāsanā (including Liṅga worship) and leads the devotee toward Śiva’s grace and inner identification with Him.
Regular recitation (pāṭha) of the chapter with devotion—ideally alongside Śiva-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and daily Śiva-upāsanā—is implied as the practical takeaway.
