Praṇava-Māhātmya and the Twofold Mantra (Sūkṣma–Sthūla) in Śaiva Sādhanā
शिवभक्ताः क्रियाः सर्वा वेदसर्वक्रियां विदुः । यावद्यावच्छिवं मंत्रं येन जप्तं भवेत्क्रमात्
śivabhaktāḥ kriyāḥ sarvā vedasarvakriyāṃ viduḥ | yāvadyāvacchivaṃ maṃtraṃ yena japtaṃ bhavetkramāt
جميعُ الأعمالِ والرياضاتِ التي يقوم بها مُحبّو شِيفا تُعرَفُ بأنها جامعةٌ لكلِّ أعمالِ الفيدا. إذ بحسب الترتيب، بقدرِ ما يَجري جَپَا مانترا شِيفا، بقدرِ ذلك يَتَحقّق ثمرُ مجموعِ الأفعالِ المقدّسة.

It teaches that Śiva-bhakti and Śiva-mantra japa are not “less than” Vedic ritualism; they are presented as the inner essence that can spiritually accomplish the purpose of all sacred rites when practiced with devotion and right order.
Śiva’s mantra is a Saguna support that gathers the mind and devotion; in the Shiva Purana’s devotional framework, japa offered to Śiva (often alongside Liṅga worship) is treated as a complete and efficacious mode of worship.
Regular, disciplined mantra-japa of Śiva’s mantra—classically the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya")—performed kramāt (with proper method, consistency, and devotional focus).
