Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Ritual calendrics for Vighneśa worship: Bhīṣag nakṣatra and Dhanur-māsa; prescribes a sādhana quantified as 100 or 1000 pūjās over matching days.
Significance: Emphasizes niyama (rule-bound observance) and saṅkhyā (counted repetition), a bridge from occasional pūjā to sustained practice; fruit implied: obstacle-removal and success in undertakings.
Offering: naivedya
It emphasizes that Shaiva practice is supported by disciplined observance (vidhi) and the removal of inner and outer obstacles through Vighneśa; steady, counted worship over days trains the devotee in niyama and focused bhakti.
In Shaiva ritual culture, worship of Vighneśa is a preparatory step that clears impediments so that Linga-pūjā and Saguna Shiva upāsanā can be performed without distraction, error, or interruption, making the worship fruitful.
A timed observance: worship Vighneśa properly during Dhanur month and the specified nakṣatra, performing either 100 or 1000 pūjās, ideally spread across the same number of days as the count undertaken.
