FAQs

It teaches that approach to Shiva (Pati) in Saguna worship is orderly and reverent: the devotee honors the surrounding divine powers in successive āvaraṇas, purifying attention and aligning the mind with Shiva’s encompassing śakti before seeking inner realization.

The verse describes āvaraṇa-pūjā—worship of attendant forms positioned by direction around the central focus—typical of Linga/maṇḍala worship. By venerating these forms in sequence, the devotee acknowledges Shiva’s manifest presence (Saguna) as structured sacred space leading toward the center.

Perform directional āvaraṇa worship in the second circle: offer respectful upacāras (e.g., water, flowers, incense) to the named forms while mentally circling the deity, maintaining a steady japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to keep the mind fixed on Shiva as the inner center.
