Rite of Consecrating a Śiva-Teacher (Śivācārya Abhiṣeka)
evaṃ vijñāpya śiṣyeṇa saha bhūyaḥ praṇamya ca | śivaṃ śivāgamaṃ divyaṃ pūjayecchivavadguruḥ

It teaches that right worship is transmitted through the Guru–disciple lineage: after instruction, both bow in humility and the Guru worships Shiva while honoring Śivāgama, showing that devotion and scripture-guided practice must go together for liberation.
By directing the Guru to “worship Shiva” according to Śivāgama, it points to Saguna worship—typically including Linga-puja—performed with correct Shaiva injunctions, where form-based devotion becomes a means to realize Shiva’s highest truth.
It implies Agamic Shiva-puja under a competent Guru: prostration (praṇāma), disciplined worship, and reverence for Shaiva scripture; in practice this commonly includes mantra-japa (e.g., Panchakshara), and orderly puja-upacharas as taught by the Guru.
