It teaches that manifestation is orderly and temporary, while the Unmanifest (ultimately grounded in Shiva-tattva) remains the stable source; liberation comes by turning awareness from changing effects back to the unchanging cause.
The Linga is revered as the sign of the Unmanifest becoming accessible: devotees worship Saguna Shiva as the compassionate doorway to realize the Unmanifest source from which creation proceeds and into which it returns.
Contemplate dissolution (pralaya-bhāvanā) while japa of the Panchakshara—"Om Namaḥ Śivāya"—reversing attention from outer effects to the inner source, supported by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha as reminders of impermanence and Shiva as the ultimate refuge.
