शङ्खचूडदूतागमनम् — The Arrival of Śaṅkhacūḍa’s Envoy
and Praise of Śiva
विधाता जगतां ब्रह्मा पिता धर्मस्य धर्मवित् । मरीचिस्तस्य पुत्रश्च कश्यपस्तत्सुतः स्मृतः
vidhātā jagatāṃ brahmā pitā dharmasya dharmavit | marīcistasya putraśca kaśyapastatsutaḥ smṛtaḥ

Tattva Level: pasha
Role: creative
It places worldly creation and social-religious order (Dharma) within a sacred lineage, reminding that cosmic governance proceeds through ordained principles—yet, in Shaiva understanding, all such functions ultimately operate under the supreme Lord (Pati) who transcends the created order.
By mapping the created hierarchy (Brahmā → Prajāpatis), the text implicitly contrasts contingent cosmic roles with Shiva as the enduring refuge; Linga-worship centers on that supreme Saguna/Nirguna reality beyond genealogies, while honoring the cosmic order that flows from it.
The verse primarily teaches contemplation of Dharma and cosmic order; a practical takeaway is to align daily conduct with Dharma while remembering Shiva through japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as the inner anchor beyond all worldly lineages.
