It praises Shiva as both Nirguna (formless) and Saguna (manifest in countless forms), affirming Him as the Supreme Pati—infinitely powerful, all-pervading, and the inner Witness—so the devotee can transcend bondage by taking refuge in His consciousness.
The Linga is a Shaiva Siddhanta-friendly symbol that points to the formless Absolute while allowing reverent worship through a visible form; this verse explicitly unites both truths—arūpa (beyond form) and ururūpa (many forms)—supporting Linga worship as a bridge from devotion to realization.
Use japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while contemplating Shiva as sarvasākṣin (the inner Witness) and sarvagata (all-pervading); during Mahāśivarātri or daily pūjā, offer bhasma/Tripuṇḍra and Rudrākṣa with this contemplation to steady the mind in Shiva-consciousness.
