Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya within the Rudrasaṃhitā frame)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames ‘salokya’ as a fruit of Śiva-bhakti and vrata-like observance centered on hearing/embracing Śiva’s carita (sacred narrative).
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It praises the Shaiva ideal that liberated, attachment-free saints yearn for Shiva’s supreme state, and that contemplating Shiva’s pure conduct becomes an unblemished spiritual discipline leading to auspicious liberation.
By emphasizing “His conduct” and the longing to behold “His abode,” the verse supports Saguna devotion—worshiping Shiva through His manifest presence (including the Linga) and by internalizing His dharmic, compassionate, and purity-bestowing ways.
The takeaway is disciplined remembrance (smaraṇa) and recitation/listening to Shiva’s sacred deeds (carita-śravaṇa/kīrtana) as a vow-like observance, paired with detachment (asaṅga) to mature toward salokya and higher mukti.
