पार्वतीजन्मवर्णनम् / Description of Pārvatī’s Birth
उपेत्य दौहदं शल्यं यद्वव्रेऽपश्यदाशु तत् । आनीतं नेष्टमस्याद्धा नासाध्यं त्रिदिवैऽपि हि
upetya dauhadaṃ śalyaṃ yadvavre'paśyadāśu tat | ānītaṃ neṣṭamasyāddhā nāsādhyaṃ tridivai'pi hi

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse narrates the fulfillment of Menā’s pregnancy-longing as part of Pārvatī’s advent narrative.
Significance: General merit of hearing Pārvatī-janma narratives: cultivation of śraddhā and auspiciousness (maṅgala) in household life.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights that intense inner longing (dauhāda) becomes a ‘thorn’ until aligned with dharma and divine grace; when the will is rightly set, obstacles that seem impossible—even to the gods—are removed through higher agency.
The verse supports the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on Saguna Shiva’s grace: sincere devotion and right intention draw the Lord’s compassionate intervention, making the devotee’s spiritual aim attainable.
A practical takeaway is to steady the heart’s desire through japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and devotional vrata, so longing transforms into focused bhakti that invites Shiva’s grace.
