The verse highlights Śiva as the ideal Lord who upholds dharma through affectionate hospitality—teaching that honoring devotees and guests with love (prīti) and service (sevā) is itself a sacred act aligned with Shaiva bhakti.
In Saguna worship, serving Śiva’s devotees and participating in sacred hospitality (annadāna, atithi-satkāra) is treated as direct service to Śiva; it complements Linga worship by expressing devotion through compassionate action.
A practical takeaway is annadāna (offering food) after Śiva-pūjā—especially on Mahāśivarātri—combined with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and respectful service to guests and devotees.
