Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It teaches that true righteousness begins in the mind: one who understands svadharma and does not mentally deviate from it is spiritually refined, fit for steady devotion and grace on the path to liberation.
Linga-worship is not merely external ritual; Shiva emphasizes inner śuddhi (purity). Mental fidelity to dharma supports sincere Saguna Shiva worship, making offerings, mantra, and vows bear fruit.
Mind-discipline as daily sādhanā—maintaining pure intention during japa (especially the Panchakshara, Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and observing vows with inner restraint; this is the practical takeaway even when specific items like bhasma or rudrākṣa are not named in the verse.
