It teaches that śravaṇa (devout listening) and pāṭha (recitation) done with samāhita-bhāva (steady attention) generate merit and grace, leading to the fulfillment of dharmic aims and inner auspiciousness under Shiva’s protection.
In Saguna Shiva devotion, hearing and reciting Shiva-kathā functions as an act of worship comparable to offerings at the Linga—turning the mind toward Shiva and invoking his anugraha (grace), which ripens into both worldly well-being and spiritual progress.
A simple practice is daily scripture-listening/reading with a focused mind (samāhita), ideally alongside Shiva upāsanā such as japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mindful participation in recitation sessions (pāṭha/śravaṇa).
