Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it continues the maṅgala-maṇḍapa description for the divine wedding context.
Significance: Models how sacred space is ‘made fit’ (yogya) for worship through maṅgala-dravya and directional placement, echoing temple and domestic pūjā protocols.
Shakti Form: Gaurī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
The verse highlights that outer purity and beauty—flowers, toranas, and auspicious placements—support inner bhakti; such ordered sacred space helps the devotee approach Śiva as the supremely auspicious Pati (Lord) who grants grace.
It describes the proper embellishment of the worship setting, a key feature of Saguna upāsanā where the Liṅga or Śiva’s presence is honored through visible offerings and sanctified arrangement, focusing the mind on Śiva’s auspiciousness.
Prepare a clean worship space, decorate with fragrant flowers and auspicious items in the four directions, then perform Śiva-pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to steady attention and devotion.
