पार्वत्याः तपः-परीक्षा (Śiva Tests Pārvatī’s Austerity)

तदर्थं मेऽनया सख्या प्रारब्धं तप ईदृशम् । तदत्र कारणं वक्ष्ये शृणु साधो द्विजोत्तम

tadarthaṃ me'nayā sakhyā prārabdhaṃ tapa īdṛśam | tadatra kāraṇaṃ vakṣye śṛṇu sādho dvijottama

«لهذا الغرض بعينه، يا صديقتي، شرعتُ في هذا النسك على هذا النحو. والآن سأبيّن سببه هنا—فاصغِ، أيها الفاضل، يا خيرَ المولودين مرتين.»
